In the beautiful valley along the Wissahickon Creek, is this old and lone
representative of the lost Wissahickon Valley hostelries of Revolutionary days.
The original hostelry was in existence in 1683, frequented by millers and farmers.
In 1778, Washington and Lafayette were reported to have dined here on their
way from Barren Hill Camp to Germantown.
